Designated Engineering Representative

Overview:

We are looking for an outstanding Aerospace Engineer who is ready to take their game to the next level. Looking for a professional whom:

  • Is a skilled Certification Engineer who has a strong background working with the FAA or other airworthiness organizations
  • Has obtained prior FAA or similar agency certifications
  • Collaborates well across departments
  • Demonstrated experience writing testing reports, plans, and procedures.
  • Gifted communicator who can build good relationships with the leadership of FAA to support the certification process and may very well be an FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER).
  • A talented problem solver, you think outside the box and find innovative solutions to challenging issues.

Background Profile:

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering required.
  • Strong experience in certification or airworthiness.
  • Expert in aerospace engineering and/or system safety.
  • Sound technical knowledge of aircraft design and modification.
  • Highly skilled with FAA certifications and regulations.
  • Excellent at writing test reports, plans, and procedures.
  • Interpersonal, listening and negotiating skills.
  • Strong leader and team player, driven to achieve common goals.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Interact with senior management and lead a cross-functional team.
  • Experience with various fabrication processes: milling, turning, sheet metal cutting, bending, forming, design for low and medium volume assembly.
  • Candidates with a Pilot license and FAA Systems and Equipment DER (Electrical) authorization potential, proficiency with AutoCAD, a demonstrated understanding of lightning aspects of aircraft certification and the FAA TSO process are highly preferred!

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop well organized project proposals, project specific certification plans and project schedules
  • Develop efficient and accurate certification approaches for aircraft modifications
  • Assist in the preparation and verification of aircraft installation and FAA certification documents
  • Coordinate with outside customers to understand and meet their expectations consistently
  • Provide engineering support for the development of system safety documents
  • Work with Civil Aviation Authorities (CASA, FAA, EASA) to obtain certification
  • Develop design, analysis, testing, and documentation of system and component-level solutions to ensure consistency to internal and external certification and manufacturability requirements.
  • Define, track, and communicate key project metrics and milestones, includes facilitation of project and design reviews and participation in engineering and certification staff reviews.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge and adherence to the Quality System and processes used for the creation and continued compliance of product lines.
  • Identify, communicate, and manage technical risk within projects / programs.
  • Develop reports to demonstrate FAA compliance; assure all relevant data is FAA approved for obtaining STC.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Be accountable for the activities, work flow, work schedules, attendance, and compliance with safety, standards and policies for all assigned staff two to four direct reports.
