Finance Supervisor

Overview

This position is responsible for general accounting including accounts payable and accounts receivable, internal and external audit coordination, cost accounting systems and information, budget preparation and control. Responsible for appraising operating results in terms of costs, budgets, policies of operations, trends and increased profitability. The Finance Supervisor also performs day to day bookkeeping activities while supervising staff to ensure work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and will have contact with senior-level managers which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.

The ideal candidate will also have the following responsibilities:

Accounting:

  • Lead all accounting operations including, but not limited to, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Transactions, Payments, Billing, Collections, and Fixed Assets
  • Act as power user for assigned financial software application(s). Pulls or inputs data, produces reports and templates, analyzes and reports information to support financial decision making. Trains other users on system and reporting applications
  • Manage audits, corporate tax filings, tax nexus and international accounting issues with external accounting firms, including preparing and reviewing support documentation and analyses
  • Responsible for the ongoing and month-end revenue reconciliation from order to cash (billing, invoicing, collection, bank)
  • Oversee and streamline billing and collections processes
  • Track A/R aging of all customer segments and execute collection efforts accordingly to company policy (internal efforts and escalated efforts)

Finance and Business Management & Analysis:

  • Prepare, review and distribute monthly financial and business analysis reports (tracking revenues, expenses, budget and forecasts, as well as fluctuations analysis)
  • Responsible for budget preparation, accuracy, and presentation. Monitors financial activity to help department managers manage their budgets.
  • Develop, maintain and distribute ad-hoc reports and financial models as needed
  • Evaluation of and recommendations relating to business opportunities, investments, financial regulations, profitability, cost efficiencies and coordination of financial projects or programs
  • Support monthly forecast process including analysis of trends to identify risks/opportunities and development of countermeasures to mitigate risks.
  • Prepare quarterly management presentations
  • Assist in the development and implementation of goals, policies, and procedures relating to financial management, budget and accounting. Focus on continuous improvement of financial processes, systems, and methodologies. Ensure that the systems and procedures in place to accurately reflect financial data and accommodate scalability as the company grows.
  • Monitor cash flow
  • Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.

 

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required; Master's degree (M. A.) in business, finance or accounting preferred. A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience with 3 years of management experience required.

Certificates and Licenses:

CPA or CMA certification desired.

Language Ability

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups such as managers, customers, vendors and the Executive Team.

Computer Skills

Advanced level of knowledge with Microsoft Office suite, Excel and Word in particular, and email.

Experience with enterprise level general ledger system required (e.g. QuickBooks).

Knowledge of ERP and/or CRM systems.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises a staff of one or more employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required Qualifications:

This is an extraordinary opportunity for someone 5-10 years of accounting and finance experience, ideally beginning in accounting and audit. Candidates must have private/corporate accounting experience, preferably with international experience. Other ideal qualifications include:

  • Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy required
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize required

  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles

  • Strong accounting technical knowledge (e.g., revenue recognition, intercompany transactions, stock options expense and international consolidation)
  • Experience in managing and scaling a team and accounting processes
  • Direct experience with fast growing, international companies
  • Keen analytic, organization and problem solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation versus. simple reporting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, board or other outside partners
  • Personal qualities of high integrity, strong communicator and a proactive, hands-on strategic thinker who will own the responsibilities of the accounting department.
