Changes to ASU, Inc. Goggle Servicing

Dear Valued Customers,

Effective April 29, 2008.

ASU was advised by the FAA that ASU is not required to and should no longer issue an FAA Form 8130 for goggle servicing.

ASU is currently pursuing the TSO for the ITT F4949 Night Vision Goggles. However until such time as the TSO is issued for the goggles, ASU will be providing you with a “Serviceable” yellow tag accompanied with a Certificate of Conformance as a factory authorized service center for ITT Night Vision.

If you have any questions regarding your night vision goggle inspection requirements, please refer to the Flight Manual Supplement (FMS) for the aircraft in which these goggles are used.

Below are the FAA Approved FMS for ASU Cockpit Lighting systems. The section in question can be found in Section 4, Normal Procedures and states that “The manufacturer recommends that the NVG undergo an inspection and validation check every 180 days in accordance with RTCA DO-275, Chapter 5.”
