Boise, Idaho — June 2, 2026 Aviation Specialties Unlimited (ASU), a global leader in night vision solutions for aviation, today announced the promotion of Alexander Emmel to Director of International Sales. The move strengthens ASU’s leadership team as the company continues expanding its presence in key global markets.

Strengthening Global Sales Leadership

Emmel has been with ASU since October 2018, serving in multiple leadership roles including Chief Pilot and Director of Safety. During his tenure, he has played a critical role in growing ASU’s international reach and supporting customers across multiple regions.

“Alex has helped ASU expand sales and service to customers throughout Europe, South America, Africa, and more over the years,” said Dan Meyer, Vice President of Sales at ASU. “In this new expanded role, Alex will further develop customer relations throughout the world while aiding in the development of sales team members.”

Driving International Growth in Night Vision Aviation

In his new role as Director of International Sales, Emmel will lead global sales initiatives, provide strategic oversight, and support regional teams. He will focus on enhancing customer engagement while leveraging market insights to expand ASU’s footprint in the night vision aviation industry.

“I have worked with the growing ASU team for many years, both as an employee of ASU and in other ways for decades,” said Emmel. “This new position allows me to continue growing, expand territories, provide valuable insights to territory managers, and help international customers seeking to start or expand their night vision flight operations. I will continue serving Europe while we identify and hire a new European-based representative for ASU.”

Extensive Aviation and NVIS Expertise

Emmel brings decades of aviation experience to the role. His background includes work as a:

  • Commercial Pilot
  • Certified Flight Instructor (CFI)
  • Technical Support Specialist
  • Compliance and Safety Manager

He is also highly specialized in night vision technology, with training in:

  • NVG (Night Vision Goggle) testing
  • NVIS (Night Vision Imaging Systems) test piloting
  • Factory training with Airbus Helicopters and Robinson Helicopters

“Alex is uniquely qualified to guide new territory managers and emerging market leaders in all aspects of NVIS,” said Meyer. “There is not an aspect of NVG operations he has not experienced firsthand. Whether it is standing up new operations, training pilots, training crew members or selling the ASU NVG E3 goggles, he has been involved in every aspect of the process. This will further ASU’s mission to increase the safety of flying at night by empowering him to expand his influence with operations around the world.”

Advancing Aviation Safety Worldwide

This promotion reflects ASU’s ongoing commitment to improving aviation safety through night vision technology. With Emmel leading international sales, ASU is well-positioned to support operators worldwide in adopting and expanding NVG and NVIS programs.
