Aviation Specialties Unlimited, (ASU) was chosen as the first company ever contracted to train the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Flight Standards Operations Inspectors and Aircraft Certification Pilots on the use of night vision goggles (NVGs) while operating fixed wing aircraft. ASU will provide both initial training and recurrent training to FAA beginning on July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2020.
The Night Vision Awards selection committee has announced a June 30th deadline for nominations for the 2017 Night Vision Awards Show to be held in Reno, Nevada at the Airborne Law Enforcement Association’s (ALEA) annual conference. Aviation Specialties Unlimited, (ASU) Inc., a Boise-based company, was granted approval by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in January to conduct commercial flight operations carrying passengers and cargo while using night vision goggles (NVGs) operating single engine airplanes. Operations are expected to start this April.
LONDONDERRY, N.H., January 24, 2017 – L3 Warrior Systems – Insight Technology (L3 Insight Technology) announced today that it has received the first Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Technical Standard Order (TSO)-C164a authorization for its M949 Aviation Night Vision Goggle (ANVG). L3 is the first company to receive this authorization, which standardizes quality and safety specifications for ANVGs.
