Aviation Specialties Unlimited (ASU) announced today the official Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) technical standard order (TSO) approval for the AERONOX NVG mount and battery pack.
ASU’s AERONOX is a NVG helmet mount that was first introduced at HELI EXPO in 2016. The lightweight, AERONOX features a retractable lanyard with a breakaway feature to prevent the loss of NVGs. The low profile LEMO connector accepts AERONOX and legacy power supplies. It has an increased vertical adjustment, low battery indicator, and an optional interface accessory for use with ground helmets when mounting AN/AVS-9 to tactical ground helmet.
L3Harris has recently become aware of a condition that may affect operation on a small percentage of ANVS Night Vision Goggles (NVG). The condition is limited to specific deliveries beginning April 2016 through July 2018. To determine if your NVGs may be affected, please reference the serial numbers listed in Appendix A of the Operational Safety Notice.
Please note this is a limited and anomalous condition and only units that fall within a specific delivery time were affected by this condition and does not include Legacy Harris goggles. If you believe your unit is affected, please refer to Appendix 1 to determine if your unit’s serial number is included and follow the instructions provided for further screening and repair.

The Night Vision Awards committee announced the 2019 recipients of the Night Vision Awards held in Omaha, Nebraska at the Airborne Public Safety Association Conference. Recipients were honored at the CHI Health Center in the Junior Ballroom from 1600 to 1730 on July 18th.
After numerous inquiries, the Night Vision Awards selection committee announced today they are extending the call for nominations for the 2019 Night Vision Awards Show to be held in Omaha, Nebraska at the Airborne Public Safety Association’s (APSA) annual APSCON conference. Entries will now be accepted until June 28th, 2019. The awards will be presented to recipients on Thursday, July 18 at an awards reception in the CHI Health Center Junior Ballroom from 16:30-17:30 p.m.
