(ORLANDO, FLORIDA - March 5, 2015) United States, Boise, Idaho based Aviation Specialties Unlimited Inc., (ASU) announced today, from the Helicopter International Association (HAI) HELI-EXPO Convention in Orlando, Florida, that the company along with Vienna, Austria based Helikopter Air Transportation GmbH (HeliAir) obtained EASA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) approval on the civilian Airbus EC135 series.
Aviation Specialties Unlimited, (ASU) has completed night vision cockpit modifications for an AS350B2 for Era Training Center, LLC., in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Chris Reber, ASU Assistant Director of Maintenance, was onsite to complete the modification at the Era Training Center. Reber has been with ASU since 2007 and has personally conducted over 100 NVIS lighting installations throughout the world.
Aviation Specialties Unlimited, (ASU) announced in conjunction with Eurocopter Southern Africa Ltd., (ESAL) that they have completed three AS350 B3s for the Botswana Police Service, in Johannesburg South Africa. In addition to the installation, ASU also provided ESAL technicians training for support of the installation.
Johannesburg is the largest city in South Africa with a population of nearly four million people. It is one of the 50 largest cities in the world. The region surrounding Johannesburg has approximately 10 million people.
Aviation Specialties Unlimited (ASU) has added the Eurocopter EC155 to their STC portfolio. The addition of this STC gives ASU an unprecedented 54 STC model/make configurations. The completion of the first ASU EC155 was for the University of Michigan and was a combined effort between ASU, Metro Aviation and American Eurocopter. "Our customers have diverse fleets of aircraft with unique missions," said ASU's director of marketing Hannah Gordon. "We continue to obtain STCs to meet the needs of our customers."
Aviation Specialties Unlimited, (ASU) have received Transport Canada approval for cockpit modifications on the MD900. ASU completed a cockpit modification for Yukon Territory based Horizon Helicopters. The MD900 will be used for Emergency Medical Services and Search and Rescue missions.
"We chose ASU because they came highly recommended from a pilot that knew their work and because of their experience working with Transport Canada requirements," said Operations Manager for Horizon Helicopters Cole Hodinski. "Night vision goggles and equipment are still new in Canada and ASU has completed a number of projects in our country. We wanted to work with someone that already had experience."
ASU is looking for a qualified NVG Installation Technician. Technician is responsible for the installation of supplemental lighting systems to include rotorcraft and fixed wing aircraft. To include completion of associated paperwork; delivering professional customer service over the phone and in the field; coordination of post installation updates and participating in procedural documentation, etc. Additionally responsibilities may include but are not limited to performing general aircraft maintenance. This position is full time with benefits upon successful completion of 90 day probationary period.
(BOISE, Idaho - October 13, 2011) In an effort to assist and educate operators about changes in inspections, installations, aircraft conformity, and requirements with modifications, Aviation Specialties Unlimited, (ASU) will offer a NVIS Aircraft Conformity Courses at the Air Medical Transport Conference (AMTC) in St. Louis. ASU Quality Assurance Manager and Chief Inspector Kip McDermott will present the course. The course will take place Wednesday, October 19th from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Space is still available if attendees of the show want to attend.
ASU announced today that they received a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the Bell 205A-1 from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The new STC was completed for the San Diego Sherriff's Department. This aircraft will be used for aerial firefighting, search and rescue, airborne law enforcement and hoist equipment.
ASU announced today that they have surpassed their 100th AS350 cockpit modification. The 100th modification was completed for Advanced Helicopter Services, customer the California Highway Patrol.
