Aviation Specialties Unlimited Awarded NVG Contract in Brazil with QUARTZO Defense

BOISE, Idaho – November 28, 2022 – Aviation Specialties Unlimited (ASU) announced today that it has secured a nationwide night vision goggle (NVG) contract in Brazil in partnership with its Brazilian distributor, QUARTZO Defense. As a result, government aviation operators across all 26 Brazilian states and the Federal District can purchase NVGs, NVIS aircraft modifications, helmets, and training services directly from ASU. This contract supports a broad range of public safety and defense organizations, including military police, civil police, and military firefighters. Moreover, it expands access to advanced night vision aviation solutions that improve safety and mission effectiveness during nighttime operations.

Initial NVG Support for Brazilian Public Safety Helicopters

Initially, ASU will provide Night Vision Imaging Systems (NVIS) for three military police helicopters and one military firefighters’ helicopter in the Federal District. In addition, the order includes 12 night vision goggles, 45 aviation helmets, and NVG training for 12 pilots and crew members.

Furthermore, military police units from two additional states and the civil police of the Federal District are expected to join the contract within the next two weeks. This expansion will further increase the reach of NVG-enabled aviation across Brazil.

Advancing Safer Night Operations Across Latin America

“ASU’s core mission revolves around safety,” said Dan Meyer, Vice President of Aviation Specialties Unlimited. “Over the years, ASU has supported many Latin American countries with night vision goggles, aircraft modifications, and specialized training. These solutions assist missions such as law enforcement, counter‑narcotics, firefighting, and search and rescue.”

“Therefore, we are proud to partner with the Brazilian government,” Meyer added. “Together, we are delivering essential night vision solutions that help federal, civil, and military aviation units operate more safely at night.”

Expanding NVG Capabilities Nationwide in Brazil

With support from QUARTZO Defense, ASU has already visited public helicopter operators in 22 of Brazil’s 27 states. During these visits, ASU demonstrated the operational and safety benefits of NVG‑enabled flight. Consequently, ASU will continue supporting additional Brazilian aviation units through this national NVG contract.

“This contract represents a major achievement for ASU and for Brazil,” Meyer said. “Most importantly, it provides immediate access to state‑of‑the‑art night vision technology. As a result, agencies can improve safety, enhance mission success, and help save lives.”
